Wanderlust and Sammellust at the Beach
The view extends out over the sea – from the beach to the countless ships that glide far out on the turquoise blue water. Or to the horizon line, where the red and yellow sun ball slowly sinks. Florida impressions – wonderful moments with a view and amazing memories.

A love for collecting on the beach The view extends out over the sea – from the beach to the countless ships that glide far out on the turquoise blue water. Or to the horizon line, where the red and yellow sun ball slowly sinks. Florida impressions – wonderful moments with a view and unforgettable memories.
For some people, however, happiness is much closer: right at your feet. Enthusiasm for fragile like delicate porcelain or robust like earthenware is timeless. If you are caught up in collecting fever, if you have developed an eye for what can be found on the beach, you can’t help it. Nothing keeps you on your beach towel, you just have to walk along the waterline or through the white sand, where what the sea incessantly spits on the coast some collect worthy things.
In Lee County, which also includes Sanibel and Captiva, there are said to be around 400 species of shells. Not to mention the many branches or other debris. “I always think about what I can do with it on quieter evenings in summer,” says Sonja Bos, founder and CEO of Florida First Class Villas. How about a beautiful shell on a small leather strap for your loved ones at home? But please always pay attention: live shelves – like starfish and hedgehogs in Florida – are not allowed to be collected and taken away. This also applies to the popular sand dollars.

And for those who prefer to stay lying on their beach towels: In Sanibel there is a small family business with the wonderful name: She Sells Sea Shells. A visit to the Bailey-Matthews National Shells Museum is also worthwhile.
Have fun on your next walk on the beach and please always remember: the world of shelves should also still please our grandchildren – but in measure this pretty collector’s item is one of the most beautiful vacation souvenirs and keeps your memories alive.
Sunny regards Sonja Bos & Team
